Lantern Love

This summer has definitely been the summer of the lantern. They are a fantastic way of injecting colour and depth into a marquee and they look amazing against the backdrop of the ivory lining.

We love it when our clients get creative with colour!!!
We love it when our clients get creative with colour!!! Paper lanterns are made from very thin coloured paper and have metal rims all the way round making them easily collapsible after use. They are clipped to the marquee’s roof lining using a transparent clip and wire; they can be fixed at different heights and at spacing to suit your required look.

The lanterns are available in a multitude of different colours and sizes. The trend seems to be mixing colours to create a theme. Vibrant colours such as lime green, bright red and yellow have a tremendous impact as you can see in this picture.

Marquees lend themselves to this lavish theme extremely well as you can see from the picture displayed.

Wedding marquees can be transformed by adding the lanterns, light pastel colours are ideal for creating an elegant, classic look. The brides this summer have all complimented us for introducing the idea of hanging lanterns in their marquee.

Fit for a Future King

Lining ropes inMonaco Marquees were privileged last month to be trusted by the Irish guards regiment to build a marquee to host their St Patricks Day parade celebration. The day had special importance as the guests of honour were no less than His Royal Highness the Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Princess Katherine.

It also marked a special day for Monaco Marquees as the marquee we provided was the biggest singular structure we had ever erected. The Marquee was 12m in Width and 39m in Length. It was large enough to hold 300 people for a sit down meal, a large stage, dance floor and two fully stocked bars.

Moffat TruckIt was erected on the Irish Guards Parade square situated in Mons Barracks, Aldershot. I wanted to write this blog to explain the process and challenges that the job posed for us. We had the opportunity to tender for the job as we had provided a similar marquee for the Sergeants Christmas Ball. Word passed to the commanding Major of the Irish guards who contacted us requesting a site survey.

I met with the major to talk through his requirements and was excited at the prospect of supplying a marquee for such importance. The main problem that I could identify with the job is that the marquee was to be erected on the concrete parade square and we were unable to drill the marquee into the hard surface. Usually if we cannot drill into the ground we would use water weight to anchor down the structure but on a marquee this size that would not be possible so it […]

Party Marquees…..”We don’t want the marquee to look too weddingy”

Many of our customers who are hosting a party in a marquee share the concern that they do not want their guests to feel like they are at a wedding. Listening to these concerns we have drawn up a 5 point guide to ensure your party marquee looks and feels just like your very own private venue.

Use flat linings as opposed to pleated linings…

After meeting with prospective customers and hearing their thoughts on the look of the marquee we approached our manufacture to see if they offered any interior lining that looked less traditional than the pleated lining. The solution was a flat lining, which after a viewing our team agreed without doubt that flat lining completely changed the look of the marquee making it look more contemporary and less…”weddingy”.

Since the viewing we have purchased flat lining in both 6m and 9m widths and they have proved extremely popular.

Use the correct lighting…

Try to avoid the more traditional looking lighting such as chandeliers. We always recommend using coloured uplighters which are small box lights that sit on the ground shining upwards. The light and colour that are produced reflect off the marquee wall and ceiling creating a party ambience suitable for all celebrations.

Getting the right colour scheme can be crucial…

Choosing darker colours for the lining swag and your carpet really set the tone for a great night. Try to avoid colours such as sky blue, ivory or light pink as these sorts of colours are usually associated with weddings. Choose colours such as black, purple or red for something more striking.

Accessorise…

We have a fantastic range of both marquee accessories and furniture that will complement your party marquee superbly […]
